Improving the Setting and Productivity of `Powell Summer Navel` by Scratching and/or Foliar Application of Algal Extracts with Hormonal Activity

The purpose of this paper is to present the potential that the use of different techniques and products offers for citrus cultivation. In this vein, and as part of IFAPA's ongoing research, we present the results of an experimental trial evaluating grating and the use of natural plant growth regulators to improve fruit set in Navel Powell.

Irrigation recommendations for almond cultivation in Andalusia under drought conditions

In recent years, almond cultivation has gone from being relegated to unproductive, dryland areas to becoming a clear alternative to other traditional crops in highly fertile agricultural areas, making intensive use of irrigation.

Effect of Black Mesh Mulching on Clementina de Nules Under Salinity Conditions. Almería, 2015-2016 Crop Season

This study aims to study the effect of mesh mulching under these growing conditions. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of black mesh mulching and two water regimes (100% ETc and 66.6% ETc) on the Clementina de Nules variety under saline irrigation water (low-quality, high-conductivity water) and plot soil conditions in the province of Almería.

Evaluation of Strawberry Varieties in Conventional Cultivation with Biosolarized Soil. 2018/2019 Crop Season

This paper presents the results obtained during the 2018-2019 crop year with twelve varieties under conventional cultivation conditions but with biosolarized soil. This technique combines two elements: the incorporation of biofumigant organic matter (biofumigation) and simultaneous soil solarization.

Ability of Two Probiotic Bacteria to Metabolize Orange Antioxidants

This work presents the results of an in vitro study on the ability of two probiotic bacteria (Bifodobacteria longum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus), bacteria commonly present in the intestinal tract and which are also used as food supplements, to transform or metabolize the majority phenolic compounds in oranges into other compounds which are responsible for the beneficial effects attributed to th

Evaluation of the Agronomic Performance of Clementina de Nules Under Black Net Mulching Conditions. Málaga, 2016-2016 Campaign

This study aims to evaluate the effect of black mesh mulching on the Clementina de Nules variety in two water regimes (100% ETc and 66.6% ETc) under the agroclimatic conditions of the coastal area of the province of Malaga.

Sustainable irrigation management in avocado cultivation

This paper aims to provide some key insights into improving irrigation management in Andalusian avocado cultivation. Irrigation and proper water resource management are critical factors for maintaining crop viability and long-term sustainability in the face of current water scarcity and future climate change forecasts.

Efficiency of Nitrogen Fertilization of a Raspberry Crop in Huelva

This paper presents the results of a fertigation trial conducted on a remontant raspberry crop in the province of Huelva. The effect of different nitrogen (N) doses on yield was evaluated, and plant and fruit nitrogen uptake was characterized. The nitrogen applied in a two-harvest campaign, including that present in the irrigation water and top dressing, ranged between 213 and 346 FU ha-1.

Optimizing Fertigation in a Strawberry Crop

This paper presents the results of a fertigation trial conducted in a strawberry crop in the province of Huelva.

Improving Blueberry Irrigation Using Soil Water Balance

This paper presents the results of an irrigation response trial for a blueberry crop during the first three years of planting. Three irrigation treatments applied 100%, 80%, and 120% of the required irrigation, calculated according to the FAO methodology, and a fourth control treatment was irrigated by the grower.

Production and Quality Evaluation of Five Blueberry Varieties. 2020 Crop Season

This paper presents the results obtained from evaluating the production and quality of five blueberry varieties with different production profiles in the 2020 crop year.

Strawberry Variety Evaluation: Results Obtained in Conventional Cultivation with Biosolarized Soil. 2017/2018 Crop Season

This paper presents data obtained during the 2017/2018 crop season, during which a total of 12 varieties were characterized, selected from those currently available on the market.

Effect of Sun Exposure on Fruit Quality in Different Strawberry Varieties

This study aimed to test the effect of light exposure level on strawberry fruit quality and assess whether the differences observed between varieties are due to the architecture or biochemistry of each variety. Four of the most representative varieties were analyzed during the 2015-16 campaign, differentiating between light-exposed and non-light-exposed fruits.

Determination of the Bioavailability of Strawberry Antioxidant Compounds for Use in Breeding Programs

This work raises the need to include in strawberry breeding programs not only the quantification of the fruit's antioxidants but also the quantification of the fruit's potentially bioactive antioxidants, that is, those that can exert a beneficial effect on human health.

Organoleptic and Nutraceutical Characterization of Five Strawberry Varieties

This paper presents the nutritional, organoleptic and functional characterization of five strawberry varieties during the years 2010 and 2011 in Spain: Fuentepina, Amiga, Camarosa, Candonga and Primoris.

Raspberry irrigation schedules based on historical weather data

This paper presents a trial of different irrigation schedules for raspberry cultivation in the province of Huelva. Treatment T1 applied the irrigation resulting from the ETo calculation under clear-sky conditions. Treatment T2 applied a schedule based on the AEMET weather forecast on a weekly basis. Treatment T3 applied a schedule based on the historical average ETo over the past 20 years.

Volatile Characterization of Organic and Conventional Orange Juice (cv. Salustiana)

This paper presents a method for analyzing volatiles in oranges using a rapid, clean, and environmentally friendly technique (solid-phase headspace microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) to determine the volatiles that contribute to the aroma of oranges.
